WARTS

Definition: Warts are caused by a virus. In most cases, patients inherit their parent’s skin type which is susceptible to the virus. They are quite painful, especially when squeezed side-to-side. Most warts occur in moist, damp feet, however, they can occur in other foot types.

Therapy consists of drying the feet out and removal of the top layer of skin by any of several methods. We prefer not to cut, burn, or freeze due to the potential for scarring. At-home prescription therapy performed by the patient often brings very adequate and satisfactory relief.
